Homeland
in My Thinking
English Version
by: Nguyen Huu Ly
I
dream of bunches of yellow flowers deeply
blossoming
in your garden spreading soulfully by
December raining
the autumn river moves its course thoughtfully
as I remembered
Beside a myriads of reed tassels under
the sun
I dream of your unbroken love
With a lemon-colored hair, an eastern
silken white dress
Bringing spontaneously laughters next
to an old well
Numberless legendary bird twitterings
beautifying the homeland
I dream of a future returning evening
meeting
To live together with scented rice cake
and new glutinous rice smell
Life grows happy in a generous man's heart
In bell ringings that make a vow in vainness
I dream of a former house where I will
return
With yin-yang tiled roof to peacefully
warm-up the familial affection
The old blackbird warbles its familiar
singings
The quiet noontime brightly sunshines
the areca palm row
I dream of being next to you in playing
flute in a hill side
The evening wavering mist fumes spirally
booring thatching roofs
I go back as a horse with tired hoofs
In the river current I enjoy taking mouthfuls
of drink
I dream of the lake surface reflecting
by the willowy shade
Folksongs share their echo in countryside
afternoons
The mother's wonder remains in my soul
forever
The old pagoda yard, miraculously in my
step back
Waking up safely in the morning filled
with rhythmic breathes
Caressing the existence by the tobacco
water-pipe flying smoke
Discard all kinds of bees full of venom
Numberless of lowers bloom lively in this
moment
Oh, all dreaming time seems to be very
short
Space smudges pleasant poetic thoughts
A wild grass on the roadside passes through
trueness
To go astray and lost in a foreign land
in the morrow
